About

I direct the Zoology Laboratory at Universidad de la Sierra in Moctezuma, Sonora. My research focuses on the thermal ecophysiology of reptiles in the Sonoran Desert, studying how species like Phrynosoma solare and Heloderma suspectum use their microhabitats to survive extreme heat and climate change. My work is deeply tied to the region through a commitment to capacity building: I actively mentor the next generation of local biologists, develop open-source biophysical monitoring tools for the Sierra, and translate our ecological findings into regional conservation strategies through the State Commission on Water and Sustainability of Sonora.
