[vc_row][vc_column][vc_toggle title=”How do I start a team?” color=”orange” size=”lg” el_class=”large_text”] Check out the “Start a team” page for information on the responsibilities for team leaders.
Please keep in mind that each team is independently organized, and team leaders are responsible for organizing and leading all aspects related to their outing, including getting the word out about their event and training participants. Team leaders are also responsible for securing any necessary permits or licenses, and/or coordinating with or alerting local authorities. We have plenty of resources available in out Team Leader Resources and Tutorials page! [/vc_toggle][vc_toggle title=”Can individuals start teams, or only institutions?” color=”orange” size=”lg”]Individuals are welcome to start teams![/vc_toggle][vc_toggle title=”What do team leaders and institutions do?” color=”orange”] Team leaders and lead institutions will be in charge of coordinating with possible volunteers for their sampling sites, and providing simple logistical information such as meet-up points and times. They are also responsible for getting the word out about the event, facilitating participation, and training participants. The BioBlitz model is very flexible and adaptable, and team leaders can organize their event based on their local conditions and logistical capacity. [/vc_toggle][vc_toggle title=”What’s the difference between the region-wide event and follow-up events?” color=”orange” size=”lg” el_class=”large_text”] During the region-wide kick-off event, on March 28th and 29th, teams all along the border will compile data simultaneously. However, we know that biological and logistical conditions along the border region are diverse. For this reason, teams are invited to conduct additional, local follow-up events throughout the BioBlitz month April at the dates the best work for them, based on their knowledge of local conditions. Team leaders are free to organize events from one-day BioBlitzes to longer collections over days or weeks. At the end, we will compile data from all of these projects into a larger Border BioBlitz collection.
If you plan to conduct more than one event or set up more than one iNat project page, please send your project page link to nextgensd2012@gmail.com with the subject line “Local Border BioBlitz event” so that we can compile the project pages. You can find information and tutorials for setting up a project and organizing your event in our Team Leader Tutorials section! [/vc_toggle][vc_toggle title=”Can I host an event on just one day during the kick-off weekend?” color=”orange”]Of course! The Border BioBlitz model is very flexible, and we invite team leaders to do what works best in their location. Feel free to host an event on Saturday, Sunday, or both days.[/vc_toggle][/vc_column][/vc_row]
