Valentina Platzgummer is a marine conservation researcher specializing in spatial analysis and participatory planning in the Gulf of California and broader Mexican Pacific. She works to anticipate mangrove loss using satellite imagery and risk-based approaches to inform timely, place-based conservation strategies. She is co-author of the concept of Marine Prosperity Areas, an emerging narrative rooted in the region that integrates biodiversity protection with community well-being and inclusive governance to support coastal resilience and regenerative development.
