About

I have had the honor and privilege to study and work in the Sonoran Desert and Sea of Cortez since 1980. Early on, as a student of Dr. Don Thomson, I spent seven summers first as a student and then as TA/adjunct faculty on DAT’s famous field marine ecology courses. Those experiences led to guiding natural history tours in the Gulf and foothills of the Sierra Madre. In 1991, I co-founded the Environmental Education Exchange, with the vision of increasing environmental literacy in the region through collaborative environmental education programs. have worked with numerous institutions and organizations throughout the region developing and presenting programs on natural and cultural history, presenting capacity-building workshops, conducting educator trainings, and developing EE “master plans.” I currently work as the Conservation Programs Director for the Arizona Wildlife Federation.
