About

I am an undergraduate student in the Biology program at the University of Sonora. I am currently collaborating with researchers from the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM) in Hermosillo, Sonora, on a research project focused on analyzing the effects of environmental change on the regeneration ecology of woody species in arid zones. My role involves laboratory procedures that support the research, allowing me to strengthen my scientific skills and gain a deeper understanding of the ecological processes that influence the persistence and regeneration of vegetation in arid environments.

This work is particularly relevant to Sonora—a region characterized by arid and semi-arid ecosystems—where biodiversity faces challenges linked to climate change, environmental degradation, and water availability. Understanding how plant species respond to changes in their environment is essential for generating knowledge that contributes to biodiversity conservation, ecological restoration, and the sustainable management of regional ecosystems.

As a future biologist, I am committed to ensuring that scientific research extends beyond the laboratory, serving as a tool to address environmental challenges that affect both ecosystems and the communities that depend on them. I aspire to leverage my background in biology and my research experience to contribute to interdisciplinary initiatives that promote biodiversity conservation and environmental resilience, especially within the arid regions of northwestern Mexico.
