About

I am part of the team for Vivas Dunas Libres an initiative led by Colectivo La Duna stationed at La Duna Centro Ecológico. Our mission is to learn from, protect, and share the importance of the coastal dunes and desert of the bay of La Paz, BCS. Our project combines eco-arts and science with the goal to inspire stewardship and the conservation of these vital ecosystems.

With an interdisciplinary lens we conduct biodiversity & geomorphological monitoring, interpretative trail design, and community education. My area of focus is better understanding the biodiversity of plants of the dunes, desert, and arroyos. Additionally, I aim to study the adaptations, interactions, and dynamics of these plants within these ecosystems and potential restoration strategies.

In the future a goal is to expand this research to see if there are certain adaptations or plants that may be able to indicate solutions for adapting local food systems to meet food security needs.
