I study the systematics and evolution of fishes, marine biogeography, marine conservation, the evolution of behavior, and the behavioral ecology of fishes. I am a Professor at UCSD and Curator of the Marine Vertebrate Collection at the Scripps Institution of Oceanography (https://scripps.ucsd.edu/collections/mv), the largest collection of fishes from the eastern Pacific Ocean.
