About

I am interested in how human-caused disturbances impact ecosystems and species interactions, from invasion biology and plant-animal interactions to large-scale animal movements. I am currently working toward my doctoral degree on the effects of extreme weather events on arid birds of the Australian interior. I hope to apply my knowledge of arid and avian ecology and conservation planning to the southwest of North America, where I am originally from. Previously, I worked in the Sonoran Desert assessing the impact of off-highway vehicles on breeding success of migratory birds in xeric riparian woodland with Point Blue Conservation Science, and did consulting work quantifying impacts of power line collisions on migratory birds near the Salton Sea. I am particularly interested in how drought conditions and water regulations in the Sonoran Desert region impact arid ecosystems within a binational context.
