My artistic practice is organic, intuitive, and grounded in the process of layering. Rather than beginning with a fixed image, I allow each work to emerge through an ongoing dialogue with the materials. Thick applications accumulate into tactile, irregular surfaces, while unexpected forms, marks, and relationships guide the direction of the piece. The process becomes one of discovery—an effort to uncover something rather than impose a predetermined outcome.

These layers speak to memory: what is preserved, what becomes obscured, and what remains present beneath the visible surface. Like land itself, the work carries traces of what came before. I am drawn to the long arcs of time through which landscapes are formed and transformed. Desert and sea may appear to exist in opposition, yet both are shaped by erosion, movement, deposition, and continual change. Their surfaces hold histories that are not immediately visible: ancient seabeds, shifting shorelines, buried organisms, human traces, and the effects of environmental change.

I migrated to Baja California Sur in 2022, arriving from a landscape shaped by cold and snow. My creative process has become a way of reflecting on my own adaptation to this extreme desert environment. The landscape can be harsh, intensely hot, and seemingly inhospitable, yet it is also mysterious and shockingly beautiful. Its plants, animals, and geological forms reveal the many ways life adapts, persists, and transforms under difficult conditions. Through my work, I explore what this landscape can teach us about our own development: how we respond to unfamiliar conditions, what we relinquish or retain, and what becomes possible when we are prepared to look closely and learn from the living world.
