About | I’m a social/cultural anthropology PhD student from the University of Cambridge, England. I’m interested in the social production of nature, knowledge, and value in and around the Gulf of California. Working with scientists, activists, and local communities, I will examine ethnographically the different ways in which people imagine, engage, anticipate, and otherwise interact with the natural or nonhuman world. In particular, I’m interested in how certain things come to matter as objects of care, concern and contestation – and how the ideas of biodiversity and conservation are reconfiguring social relations, practices and places in northwestern Mexico and beyond. |
