As a Kino chronista, Mark loves to share his extensive knowledge about Kino. Padre Kino is the 17th century Jesuit missionary, scientist and explorer who worked over 30 years in the lands and on the waters of the Sonoran Desert.Mark is a founding member of the Kino Heritage Society and is editor of its Kino website at www.padrekino.com. The Kino Society’s mission is to promote the past and present legacy of Kino through publications, presentations and other events and to promote the cause for Kino’s sainthood. Mark’s interests include promoting friendship and solidarity among the people living in the Sonoran Desert and preserving Kino’s living legacies of the Spanish Barb horse and heritage agriculture especially Kino winter wheat. Mark is researching Kino’s connections to the national parks and other protected areas of the Sonoran Desert. Mark is a Tucson native and has degrees from the University of Arizona in anthropology and law.
