About | Postdoctoral researcher at Scripps Institution of Oceanography, University of California San Diego, and a member of the Gulf of California Marine Program (http://www.gocmarineprogram.org/). Over the last decade, Dr. Moreno-Báez has worked in the study of the spatial and temporal dimension of human-environment interactions through citizen science and by collecting local knowledge involving stakeholders into the process. Her most significant work can be summarized as facilitating the practical use of natural resources, science and geo-spatial technology, and helping meet the growing demand for a spatially explicit planning in conservation. She is currently coordinating projects and collaborations centered on the coastal and marine ecosystem in the Gulf of California and the Pacific. Finally, she is directing the development of a free, open source interactive geo-platform called DataMARES to address the need for accessible, secure, and robust data, that will support the integration, visualization, query and analysis of data and scientific information within a friendly context. |
