My personal art style is very malleable and I’ve completed a variety of different art jobs. I have created graphic design and poster art for a handful of larger bands (and smaller bands) including Beach Boys, Widespread Panic, Tedeschi Trucks Band, REO Speedwagon, etc. My work has been published in the book Poster Children: The Artwork of Widespread Panic. I have completed three local murals to date in Flagstaff as well. In my personal painting projects I choose to combine realistic elements of nature, animals, people and the human skeletal system/heart with abstract painting techniques. When creating realistically, I often study of skeletal and muscular structure of an animal or person to create a natural two-dimensional view that can show the being as they exist in the universe. I also incorporate abstract techniques in my artwork because I believe abstraction lends itself well to communicating scientific processes that are occurring in nature that aren’t always visible to the human eye. I also find personally that creating art that has a combination of realism and abstraction helps the viewer connect more emotively with a piece of art. I see this as being a very powerful tool in communicating the subtly and importance of Sonoran Desert to laymen who may not have the knowledge base to understand to realities of our changing world.
