About | Karl Flessa co-leads the binational science team responsible for .monitoring the effects of environmental flows to the Colorado River Delta. Previously, he coordinated studies of the Cienega de Santa Clara during the trial run of the Yuma de-salting plant. Karl Flessa received his undergraduate degree from Lafayette College and his Ph.D. from Brown University. A paleontologist by training and a conservation biologist by choice, he and his students have been working on the Colorado River Delta since 1992. He has authored more than 100 scientific articles and co-edited four books, including Conservation of Shared Environments: Learning from the United States and Mexico. Karl Flessa has been a Humboldt Fellow, a program officer at the National Science Foundation, president of the Paleontological Society, visiting professor at the Universidad Autónoma de Baja California and at Cornell University, fellow at the Udall Center for Studies in Public Policy and visiting scientist at the Sonoran Institute. |
