I study nature through the lens of chemistry. My research in the Sonoran Desert is focused on understanding what impacts water quality in lakes and streams and, in particular, what this might mean for the organisms that rely on these vital resources. Much of my work has focused on the oases in Cuatro Cienegas, Mexico, and the Sky Islands region of southern Arizona.
