About | I am Assistant Professor of Music Education at the University of Arizona. My research involves using interdisciplinary frameworks to strengthen relationships in the US-Mexico border with and through music education. Specifically, I work with Native American communities of the Sonoran Desert (Tohono O’odham and Pascua Yaqui Tribes), and facilitate connections among US-Mexican communities in Todos Santos, BCS through storytelling, music, and visual arts. My interests include environmental sustainability, Indigenous resiliency and reconciliation, improving teacher education programs by using land-based approaches, and the idea of cultural change over time using art-based approaches with children and youth. |
