My work seeks to develop a method to make native oyster (Ostrea lurida) restoration economically feasible through aquaculture. Baja California, is an area we are focusing on, as it is located in the historic range of O. lurida. Baja is also known for oyster aquaculture, but it is primarily focused on the nonnative Japanese oyster, Crassostrea gigas. This project seeks to reintroduce the native oyster into aquaculture in order to foster native and natural communities along the western coast.
