I am an Austrian biologist, that is living in Mexico for almost 3 years now. Mainly I moved to Mexico to dedicate my actions to the maintenance of biodiversity. As I am specialized to parrots and their (social) behaviour also from my time in Austria, where I was working for almost 10 years with parrots in captivity, that had been former pets, mainly in their re-socialization and re-habituation, offering them big enclosures in an enriched and social environment , I soon entered in the Reintroduction project of Scarlet Macaws (Ara macao cyanoptera) of the Institute of Biology (UNAM). Meanwhile I left the project due to labour agreement related problems. We managed nevertheless the release of 27 Scarlet Macaws in their former habitat Los Tuxtlas, Veracruz, after a period of local extinction of about 80 years! I would like to know about the activities and characters of that scientific community and hope to participate at one of the future meetings!
