About

Mitchell has worked in the Southwest US for over 30 years, focusing primarily on the prehistoric Hohokam culture of Arizona. Since the late 90s he has been conducting archaeological reconnaissance and test excavations with colleagues in the Puerto Penasco area. This research has identified coastal shell middens dating back almost 6,000 years. Ongoing research interests include prehistoric resource acquisition and interaction, coastal resource exploitation, and ancient fishing patterns.
