About

Claire Taylor is an artist and illustrator whose work explores themes of existence through watercolor painting, creative writing, and artist books. Her narrative art often imagines the perspectives of creatures and landscapes she encounters near her home. Solo exhibitions of her work include Snail Snake City at the Utah State Capitol (2022), the Utah Museum of Contemporary Art (2019), and the Alice Gallery (2016). She has participated in artist residencies at the Natural History Museum of Utah (2020) and the Utah Museum of Contemporary Art (2018–2019).

Taylor collaborates with environmental writers and scientists to create field guides and other publications. Her most recent project, Notes on Soil, is a printed field guide that explores soil health in Southwest Arizona.
