| About | Cassandra Cerón was born in DeKalb, Georgia, in 1998. She currently lives in Tijuana, Baja California. She studied Environmental Geology Engineering at the Universidad Autónoma del Estado de Hidalgo. During her university training, she complemented her studies with ceramics classes at the Escuela de Artes de Hidalgo and photography at the Escuela de Cine Comunitario y Fotografía Pohualizcalli. Her research work involves the collection of rocks for the creation of sculptures, as well as water and plants for the processing of photographic negatives that she uses as a record of the geological landscape and representation of the reciprocity between body/territory. She recently obtained a residency at the Museum of Photographic Arts (MOPA), where she participates in a photographic project focused on the migratory processes that have marked her life. She also took part in Tijuana Design Week with her project Archivos del Paisaje, a research project in which she collected rocks in Baja California to produce high-temperature ceramic glazes. Her practice as an educator at Outside The Lens focuses on accompanying children and adolescents in their search for ways to express their sensibilities through photographic projects, fostering critical reflection on the contexts and territories they inhabit. |
