Carlos is currently a lecturer at the School of Marine Sciences, UABC Ensenada. With a major in archaeology, he had the opportunity to complete a doctoral program in Environment and Development, where he found interdisciplinary approaches in the study of the cultural heritage of the coastal deserts. Besides lecturing in the environmental sciences major, his research interests include the long term biological consequences of exploitation of coastal species by humans, the environmental history associated to present risk scenarios, and community involvement for the management of the cultural and biological heritage in northwestern Baja California.
