About

My passion is marine diversity. The Gulf of California and its islands have captured my mind and academic intrest. I have worked with various taxa but recently have found myself focusing on waterbird natural history, ecology and conservation. I spent 5 years working in Bahia Kino, Sonora, with waterbird populations in coastal wetlands and on islands. While I am no longer living along the Gulf, I often dream of returning. I currently am a Researcher at Conservation Metrics, Inc, working at the intersection of tech and biological monitoring. We use drones, remote cameras and acoustics to monitor hard to access, and elusive animals with the help of machine learning.
