Rafael A. Lara Resendiz was born in Mexico City. He completed his undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral degrees at the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM), with his doctorate being obtained from the Institute of Biology. He has pursued postdoctoral research at various institutions, including the University of California in Santa Cruz, USA; the Center for Biological Research of the Northwest in Baja California Sur; and the Center for Applied Zoology in Córdoba, Argentina. These postdoctoral experiences focused on the eco-physiology and extinction risk of amphibians and reptiles in extreme environments. He currently serves as a researcher at the Technological Institute of Sonora in Ciudad Obregón. His primary research interest revolves around the ecological impacts of climate change on terrestrial vertebrates using eco-physiological models. His research has encompassed diverse ecosystems, including the Galapagos Islands, the Patagonian steppe, the arid Chaco region in South America, as well as the Mojave Desert, Sonora Desert, Chihuahua Desert, and the Tehuacán-Cuicatlán Desert, along with the Yucatan and Baja California peninsulas. He has authored 33 scientific articles, four book chapters, several scientific reports, and 33 natural history notes. Additionally, he has presented 66 research works at national and international conferences. He is recognized as a Level 1 researcher by Mexico’s National System of Researchers (SNI).
