About

I am an incoming Master’s student in Coastal and Marine Science at Arizona State University with a B.S. in Biological Sciences (Conservation Biology). I am currently a member of the Senko Lab for Marine Megafauna & Fisheries Conservation in ASU’s School of Ocean Futures, where our work focuses on reducing bycatch of threatened marine species and supporting small-scale fisheries through applied, community-driven research. Last year, I participated in a study abroad program in La Paz, Baja California Sur, Mexico through Arizona State University, where I visited the island of El Pardito and gained firsthand experience working with sea turtles, interviewing local fishers, and participating in community-based conservation activities. I also had the opportunity to work hands-on
with nesting sea turtles during a conservation internship in Boca de Tomatlán, Jalisco and Sayulita, Nayarit, where I studied the effects of light pollution on sea turtle nesting dynamics and hatchling emergence patterns. I am exploring the possibility of conducting my Master’s thesis in collaboration with CEDO and the Senko Lab. I am especially interested in projects that involve community-based conservation and the conservation of sea turtles in the Northern Gulf of California.
