About

I grew up in Hermosillo, Sonora, and earned my Bachelor’s in Biology from Universidad de Sonora. After exploring the Arizona/Sonora borderlands region for a few years, I moved to the US and got involved in different-scale restoration projects in southern Arizona and northern Sonora. I also learned how to implement landscape restoration techniques to improve wildlife habitat. After 4 years of working on hands-on restoration projects, I accepted a position as a graduate research assistant at the School of Natural Resources and the Environment at the University of Arizona in Tucson. My thesis will evaluate the impacts of the US/Mexico border wall on the mammal communities of the Sonoran Desert, specifically at Organ Pipe Cactus National Monument and La Reserva de la Biosfera El Pinacate y Gran Desierto de Altar.
I enjoy outdoor activities like hiking and trail running, but also gardening and reading.
