In 2019, the Next-Generation Sonoran Desert Researchers Board of Directors conducted a survey to better understand how border policies affect researchers, including college students, academic professionals, employees of non-profit organizations and federal and state agencies who work in the US/Mexico border region.

The intention of this study was to document the interactions researchers working in the border region experience with authorities, people crossing the US border, and others. The survey questions will be used to characterize and quantify the type interactions and to assess recent changes to in those interactions.
