Summits

One of the best ways to connect those of us committed to the understanding and conservation of the Sonoran Desert is in person. Irregularly N-Gen holds a region wide Summit.

The first was held in Tucson, Arizona April 18–20 2012, our second in Guaymas, Sonora 27–29 October 2015, third in Álamos, Sonora, 25–27 April 2024, and next the Desert Seas Summit, La Paz, 2-6 February 2027.

The Summits

The 2012 inaugural Summit was held at the Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum in Tucson, Arizona from April 18 to 20. Ninety individuals attended the three-day gathering, 49 participants from Mexico and 41 from the United States.
The 2015 Summit had 170 participants, 60 from the U.S., 82 from Mexico, and 28 Indigenous participants with ca. 30 sessions.
275+ participants (186 MX, 68 US, 36 Agave producers, and 25 Indigenous participants); 100+ institutions; 58 sessions.

The future of the Gulf of California is being shaped right now. At a time marked by growing pressure on ecosystems and communities, along with many, yet disparate science and conservation actions, the need for collective action has never been greater.
