Dr. Lydia Ladah is a coastal research oceanographer with over 30 yrs working in the kelp forests and fishing communities in Mexico, and is currently supervising the City of San Diego’s kelp forest monitoring program at Scripps Institition of Oceanography. She is also acting as Inter-Institutional Liaison between CICESE, a Federal Research Institute in Mexico, specializing in marine science research and education, and UCSD-SIO. She is the founder of ARSEC, the Alliance for the Restoration of Coastal Ecosystem Services, and of a National Women in Science group housed at Cicese. She has attained the highest level in the National System of Researchers, level 3, represents Mexico through Cicese at the UN Decade and IOC, and is an invited member of the State Science Assembly in Baja Califormia.
