About

I am a freelance documentary photographer based in Park City, Utah. Exploring the Sonoran desert with the Comcáac/Seri Indians and documenting their traditional culture and environment has been a passion of mine since 1985. In 2007, I launched The Comcáac Project: an independent, tri-lingual, multimedia collaboration between myself, my Seri co-author, and numerous Seri elders/informants. Together, we have created an extensive digital audio archive including: songs, narratives, legends, myths, and histories; all recorded in the endangered language of Cmiique Iitom/Seri and narrated by the last living elders to know the material. My image portfolio includes the genres of portraiture, landscape, conservation, aerial and drone photography. This long-term personal project has been supported in part by The American Folklife Center at the Library of Congress, The Firebird Foundation for Anthropological Research, The Southwest Center at the University of Arizona, and dedicated private investors.
