About | My work as an independent curator and M.A. candidate in Humanities and Social Thought at New York University brought me to Sonora in 2014. The Prescott College Kino Bay Center funded a collaborative curatorial project of the Pfister Collection of Ironwood carvings, Torote Baskets and jewelry, made by artists from the Comcaac community. Together with a team of co-curators, artists and translators from Desemboque and Punta Chueca, we designed two exhibitions and a catalog of the Pfister collection. This project, for me, incited further exploration into the political and social structures of representation, a focus that spans the critical research fields of contemporary art, development and market, museum studies, Natural History, Anthropology and social theory. |
