About | My name is Jorge Andrade and I am an ecologist/mammalogist with broad-ranging research expertise in ecology, population ecology, natural resource management, community-based management and conservation biology. I have extensive experience in GIS, remote sensing, field-based ecological monitoring and genetic/genomic analysis. My career goal to contributing to the understanding of autecology, landscape genomics, population ecology, and the evolution of mammals to aid the management and conservation of wildlife. My father’s family (Andrade-Murillo) is one of the oldest families from Baja California Sur, particularly from La Paz and Santa Rosalía (Choyero lands). My mother’s side, the Sánchez-Servín family, took a long journey from Nahuatzen, Michoacan to stablish at San Vicentito, Baja California to latter migrate (in burro) to El Rosario, Baja California back in 1945. I grew up in Ensenada but travelling coastal roads across the peninsula visiting my family. The wonders of the peninsula, including its wildlife, enviroments and its remarkable people, have had a profound impact on me and made me the person and researcher I am now. |
