About

My work has centered on seabird ecology and conservation in the Gulf of California and its islands, focusing on the obtention of long-time data series for the study of the diet and breeding ecology in relation to oceanographic conditions and fisheries pressure. I have also worked on at sea seabird distribution and abundance, and breeding distribution and abundance. Since the beginning of my work in 1979, particularly in Isla Rasa, I have been gathering information on the behavioral aspects of the seabirds nesting there, with special emphasis on the Heermann’s Gull, for which we are working in the behavioral and vocal repertoire and the importance of communication in the nesting colony. I am also interested in the cultural aspects of birds, mainly among the Comcaac, who possess a deep knowledge of land and seabird ecology and behavior.
