About

My research interest is focused in marine community ecology and biogeography in the Northeast Pacific and the Upper Gulf of California. The research developed in the BS and MSc have addressed fish communities of intertidal zone, evaluating composition, structure and biogeography of these assemblages. My MSc work at the Universidad Autónoma de Baja California (UABC) was focused on the recognition of boundaries of the biogeographic transition zone Californian-Cortesian, assessing coastal communities from 16 sites in the Pacific coast of Baja California peninsula. The continuation of this work has also added two sites on the peninsula, three islands (Cedros, Natividad and San Martin) and the Upper Gulf of California. I am a partner of an impressive blend of scientists and technicians that is leading efforts to assess biodiversity in coastal environments of Baja California. Although my experience is mostly in the marine environment, my interest in understanding biogeographic patterns and processes integrate continental and marine environments. Currently I´m lecturer of Biogeography and Applied Ichthyology, in the Faculty of Marine Sciences at the UABC, and research technician at the Instituto de Investigaciones Oceanológicas.
