About | I am a PhD in Marine and Coastal Sciences at the Autonomous University of Baja California Sur (UABCS, for its acronym in Spanish) with a Master of Science degree in Marine Resource Management at Interdisciplinary Center of Marine Science of the National Polytechnic Institute (CICIMAR-IPN, for its acronym in Spanish) and a Bachelor’s degree in Marine Biology at UABCS. Since 2017, I’m consultant in topics of marine conservation and fisheries management, and I work for N-Gen as Administrative Assistant. During my work in the civil society sector (2013-2017), I developed projects related to the design, management (evaluation and monitoring) and communication process with different stakeholders of replenishment zones (no-take zones fully protected such as fishery refugia, core zones into Natural Protected Areas and volunteer marine reserves) to help in their implementation on the Mexican seas: Gulf of California, Caribbean Sea and Pacific Coast of Baja California Peninsula. Since 2006, my research has focused on the study of marine ecosystems formed by marine plants in the Gulf of California on various topics, mainly with rockweed Sargassum, better known regionally as sargazo, in order to work on their conservation and management, working with non-governmental organizations (NGO), government agencies focused in the protection and administration of natural resources, and academia (universitys and research centers). My interest is develop applied research to search practical solutions for the conservation and management of natural capital in the face of natural and antropogenic factors (including global warming) for the human well being. |
