About

I am an entomologist primarily focused on Scarab beetles, native bees, and velvet ants, with a particular emphasis on their biogeography, taxonomy, ecology, and behaviour. My research journey has predominantly taken place in the captivating landscapes of sky islands within the central region of Mexico and the state of Oaxaca, with some sampling conducted on islands in the Gulf of California. Additionally, I am actively engaged in a project that explores the intricate relationship between indigenous languages and biodiversity in Oaxaca.
Currently, I hold a position as a lecturer in Entomology at UNE, where I continue to study the dynamics of sky islands in select Gondwana rainforests of Australia.
I am enthusiastic about the opportunity to foster continued collaborations with students and researchers interested in the dynamic ecosystems of the Gulf of California islands. Together, we can further explore and unravel the mysteries of these unique and biodiverse environments.
