About

My experience has led me to a unique position that lies at the interface of genetics and evolution, ethnobotany, project management, and conservation. My research in applied population genetics and genomics, phylogenetics, and ethnobotany equips me with a unique perspective and an interest in assessing the range of applications that science can provide to sociocultural issues. I am pursuing a PhD in Plant Biology in order to understand and practice the methodologies used to model biogeographic history and climatic niche evolution- which I will use to interpret California native plant phylogenies such as the charismatic genus, Calochortus-, estimate the effects of climate change, and help provide solutions to overlapping economic and ecological issues, meanwhile representing and mentoring women from underrepresented communities.
