What COVID protocols are there?
The Border BioBlitz is a decentralized outdoor event.
We urge all participants to carefully follow public health guidelines provided by the WHO and local governments. We want community scientists all along the border to have the opportunity to participate, while still keeping themselves and their communities safe. Please stay informed about any possible changes in the overall event and to conditions in your community and region.
Also consider documenting wildlife from the safety of their home or yard and by identifying species!
How do you define the border?
We know the borderlands are a diverse and complex region. In some areas our borderlands are expansive, and in others they are reduced to a narrow strip through urban areas.
In 2023, we are focused on observations of plant and animal life found within 5 kilometers (about 3 miles) north or south of the U.S.-Mexico border
Do I have to be a biologist to participate?
Not at all! We encourage people of all ages, professions, and experience levels to participate. All you need is a smartphone with the iNaturalist app. To learn more visit the tutorials section.
