Thomas W. Crawford, Jr. is owner and principal consultant of Global Agronomy, LLC. Besides consulting, he writes scientific publications regarding soils, plant nutrition and ecosystem management. In Tucson, Arizona, he volunteers as a docent at Tohono Chul, a park that brings nature, art and culture of the Sonoran Desert to visitors. He has presented information regarding soils, plant nutrition, and fertilizers to various audiences in Afghanistan, Angola, South Africa, Mozambique, Tanzania, Peru, Guatemala, Mexico, Spain, Turkey, China and the USA. Before retiring in 2014, Dr. Crawford served as director of research for a company that manufactures fluid fertilizers, pest control products and wastewater treatment products in the Sonoran Desert and sells them worldwide.Dr. Crawford is the author of “Responses of Plants to Stresses of the Sonoran Desert,” a book chapter which is to be published in September, 2019 in the Handbook of Plant and Crop Stress, Fourth Edition. In addition, he provides information to the public in several videos regarding management of water in the Sonoran Desert and some related topics at YouTube (see Global Agronomy videos). He has prepared PowerPoint presentations on flora and fauna of the Sonoran Desert and on the use of motion-activated game cameras to photograph wildlife at Tohono Chul and at home. He has created a website with photographs of wildlife photographed by game camera at Tohono Chul (http://twc0etal.freeshell.org/tcp/index.html).Dr. Crawford has a continuing interest in history and foreign languages. He uses skills in digital cartography and is proficient in French, Italian, Portuguese and Spanish in addition to English. He holds an A.B. in Religion with Distinction in General Scholarship, an M.S. in Ecology, and a Ph.D. in Soil Science, each from the University of California.
