Researchers

My focus with The Nature Conservancy is on helping land managers identify and fill their biological information needs and tie this information back into decision making. A major part of this work has been partnering with the Bureau of Land Management to design more informative and efficient ecological monitoring for adaptive management, e.g. on effectiveness of restoration efforts and responses to natural disturbances. I also work at broader levels to identify conservation opportunities for deserts and grasslands in the region, and help figure out the roles that applied science can play in advancing those opportunities. I work a lot with partners and am also keenly interested in social science of how institutions function.
