I’m a Ph.D. candidate in the department of Ecology and Evolutionary Biology at UCLA, studying cattle ranching in the tropical deciduous forest (TDF) of southeastern Sonora, Mexico.  My questions have to do with how, when, and under what conditions cattle affect TDF plant communities, and what drives cattle foraging and ranging decisions in the forest.  I’m also interested in sociocultural frameworks for conservation in Latin America, and am working with local ranchers and conservation professionals to develop sustainable ranching practices and environmental education initiatives in the region.
